Amazon India Prime Day Sets Delivery Record: Prime Membership Rises 70% in Tier 2 & Tier 3 Cities
India hosted its 10th Prime Day, marking a decade of its operations in India, and achieved the fastest delivery performance in the platform’s history. In cities covered by Amazon Now instant delivery services, around half of promotional orders were fulfilled within minutes. Same-day delivery orders more than tripled compared to the previous event, and over half of all orders were delivered before the event concluded.
Prime member growth saw a notable shift toward smaller, deeper-tier cities, with 70% of new Prime members coming from non-metro areas such as Hoshiarpur and Ujjain. Sales of international home and kitchen appliances surged 4.5 times year-on-year in tier 2 and tier 3 markets. Sales of premium beauty products tripled, personal care appliances priced above ₹2,500 remained flat year-on-year, and large-screen televisions priced above ₹35,000 doubled in sales volume.
AI and smart home products gained strong traction: one out of every five Windows PCs sold was an AI PC. Dreame robot vacuum cleaner sales rose more than 200%, while new kitchen appliances including water purifiers and ice makers saw an overall sales increase of 4.3 times.
On the payments front, flexible financing options drove higher average order values. Nearly half of all transactions were processed via Amazon Pay, and 25% of orders for large home appliances and 3C electronics used EMI instalment plans, 80% of which were interest-free.
For Amazon Business, new business customer registrations increased 3.6 times, and bulk purchase transactions grew nearly sevenfold, with laptops, televisions and headphones as the top purchased categories.
These figures reflect the ongoing penetration of India’s consumer market beyond major metro cities, alongside a structural shift from basic consumption toward premium, smart and upgraded products.
